The spirit of learning and exploring technology has once again been demonstrated by students of the Faculty of Engineering and Vocational Studies at Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha). One of the 7th-semester Computer Science undergraduates, Cindy Hapsari, successfully passed the Impact Internship (Belmawa Dikti) program and got the opportunity to learn directly at one of Indonesia’s leading digital media companies, Vidio.
Cindy is currently joining the Content Strategic Analytics division (Product Team) at Vidio, where she is directly involved in the development and exploration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) models that support the platform’s content strategy.
During her internship, Cindy focused on two main projects:
1. Content Forecasting, which involves predicting content performance based on users’ watch duration and behavior patterns of subscribed customers. From this data, the team can estimate revenue per title and determine more efficient content strategies.
2. User Taste Mapping, which involves building a model to recognize user preferences using clustering approaches and machine learning algorithms, so that Vidio can provide increasingly relevant content recommendations.
“During my time at Vidio, I was able to explore various AI tools that I had previously only learned about theoretically at university. Here, I got hands-on experience with Vidio’s internal datasets, which are much richer and more concrete, and I understood how that data is used for business decision-making,” said Cindy.
She added, “The environment is very positive and proactive. My mentor and colleagues are incredibly supportive, and I learn a lot from their diverse backgrounds. Even as a student, I feel encouraged to think and experiment like an engineer.” According to Cindy, this experience gave her a real understanding of how AI can be applied in the digital entertainment industry.
“At university, AI learning is still mostly theoretical with limited public data. But at Vidio, I can learn hands-on using concrete data. I would rate this experience 100 out of 10 — because the company provides the right tools, which at university might be difficult to access due to cost,” she revealed.
The Impact Internship Program serves as a bridge between the academic world and the industry.
“Magang Berdampak is here to bridge the academic world with the real needs of the industry. Collaboration with partners like Vidio provides students the opportunity to learn directly from the dynamic digital media ecosystem, while also honing skills that will be essential in their careers,” said Dr. Ir. Wachyu Hari Haji, Deputy Chair of the Magang Berdampak Program Team at Kemdiktisaintek.
For Cindy, interning at Vidio is not just about work experience, but also the first step toward her dream of becoming an AI Engineer or a researcher in the field of artificial intelligence.
Through this internship program, Vidio demonstrates its commitment to nurturing the younger generation, preparing them to face the future of Indonesia’s digital industry with a spirit of innovation and collaboration.
