Innovation in learning is not only based on creative thinking and renewing existing resources. Educators are required to be careful in carrying out reforms or innovations that are contextual and beneficial for students. Therefore, case study analysis is needed as a material for consideration and the basis for an innovation to be applied in order to create learning activities that are more flexible and in accordance with the needs in the field.
Therefore, the second PKKM PTI Go International Workshop carried the theme “Case Instructional for Innovative Learning and Case Study Analysis”. This workshop took place online through a Zoom Meeting on Tuesday, July 26, 2021. This activity was carried out in order to improve the quality of international standard learning through PTI Go-International organized by the Informatics Engineering Education Study Program, Faculty of Engineering and Vocational, Undiksha.
The workshop was opened by Mrs. Luh Putu Eka Damayanti as the host and moderated by Mrs. Dr.phil. Dessy Seri Wahyuni, S.Kom., M.Eng. This activity invites lecturers from various campuses as well as industry practitioners as a means of exchanging information related to improving the quality of learning in higher education in particular.
The first guest speaker in this workshop was Prof. Dr. Drs. Putu Panji Sudira, MP. He is Professor of Vocational Learning, Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University. In this workshop, he explained the reasons why SMK graduates beat OU Engineers and Doctors. He said that this is because Generation Z is an independent generation, open-minded, expressive in communicating through various digital communication platforms. In his material, he mentioned that Generation Z has constructivist experiences, namely Orientation, Elicitation, Idea Reconstruction, Use of New Ideas, and Reviews. So, it can be concluded that in order to adapt to today’s learning and improve the quality of education as well as the output of the students themselves, educators are expected to change the old system in the form of Expository into Discovery. Thus, there will be many new findings and automatic updates in the field and quality of education itself.
PTI-Go International also invited Dr. R. Edi Sewandono ST. MT. as the guest soeaker for industry practitioners. He works as a Senior Expert at PT. Pertamina (Persero). In his presentation, he said that in designing learning, educators must pay attention to several aspects, namely Empathy, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Design. So that appropriate self-development is achieved. According to Dr. R. Edi Sewandono ST. MT, there are several phases in development, Initiation, System Concept Development, Planning, Requirement Analysis, Design, Development, Integration and Test, Implementation, Orientation and Maintenance, and the last is Disposition. So we need a good case study analysis to determine what kind of development is compatible with the times. It is intended that the results developed are not only ergonomic but also flexible to keep up with the times. This workshop activity ended with a question and answer session between participants and resource persons. The implementation of this workshop is expected to be able to improve the quality of education in the higher education sector in general and the Informatics Engineering Education Study Program in particular.
