Singaraja- The Faculty of Engineering and Vocational Education, Ganesha University of Education (FTK- Undiksha) again held the “International Conference on Vocational Education and Technology (IConVET)”, on Saturday (7/11/2020). This virtual conference is a medium for obtaining input regarding Human Resources (HR) innovation in the vocational and technological fields so that they become more competent and competitive, especially in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0 and the era of the new normal.
This conference presented three speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Thomas Kohler from Dresden University of Technology, Germany, Prof. Dr. Drs. Putu Sudira, MP., from Yogyakarta State University, Indonesia, and Associate Prof. Ferry Jie, Ph.D., from Edith Cowan University, Australia.
Chair of the Committee, Gede Aditra Pradnyana, S.Kom., M.Kom., explained that this conference carried the main theme “Future of TVET Graduates: Developing Talent for Industry 4.0 and The New Normal”. Meanwhile, the special themes are Education (Electrical Engineering Education, Family Welfare Education, Technology and Vocational Education, Informatics Engineering Education, Mechanical Engineering Education), Vocational and Vocational (Culinary, Fashion, Beauty, Tourism), Informatics Management, Informatics Engineering and Computers, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Community Service in the vocational and technological fields.
Participants in this conference came from various countries, namely Indonesia, Taiwan, Netherlands, Iraq, and Australia. “This conference is intended to obtain the latest information regarding study results, research results, development, thoughts, and research, especially in the vocational and technological fields. “Apart from that, it is also to get an overview, input, and evaluation from government, private, professional agencies, lecturers, teachers, alumni, and students regarding innovation in the vocational and technological fields,” he explained.
According to this young lecturer, innovation in the vocational and technological fields is very important in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0. No less important, this also needs to be complemented by entrepreneurial skills and building relationships with stakeholders. “We hope that this conference will really provide benefits,” he said.
Apart from presenting three speakers, this conference, which is in its third year, also received 105 articles from students, teaching staff, researchers, and practitioners from dozens of universities and institutions. However, based on the results of the review, only 86 articles were declared qualified for presentation.
Undiksha Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., in his speech, appreciated the holding of this conference. “Even in a pandemic situation, we can still hold activities like this. “Of course, this is a very positive thing,” he said. This conference provides knowledge about vocational and technology. According to him, this is very important to create competitive human resources. “This conference brings together academics, experts, and researchers to share experiences and knowledge,” he said. (hms)
