Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) has launched a vision to become a superior university based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy in Asia by 2045. All faculties continue to race to make this happen. One of them is the Undiksha Engineering and Vocational Faculty (FTK) holding the 2nd International Conference on Vocational Education and Technology (IConVET 2019) at the Banyualit Hotel, Singaraja, Friday (01/10/2019).
The conference with the theme “Harmonization of TVET and Industrial Revolution 4.0 towards Society 5.0” presented two Keynote Speakers, namely Dr. Sophea Prum from Taylor’s University, Malaysia and Kadek Yota Ernanda Aryanto, Ph.D. Ganesha University of Education, Indonesia. Apart from that, there were also 70 speakers who presented various types of material.
Chairman of the Committee, I Made Putrama, S.T., M.Tech., said that this activity was aimed at facilitating the meeting of academics, and researchers from outside academia, for example, practitioners, both teachers and students, to exchange ideas about science that focuses on vocational, educational and technology. “There are various types of topics discussed here. “Of course, participants can gain a lot of knowledge,” he said.
At this annual event, participants came from various educational institutions in 5 different countries, such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Japan, and Australia. Regarding the technicalities of article publication, Putrama said that this time it was a little different from previous years. “There is a review process after this seminar by experts, then feedback is given to improve the paper. So that it can be published by indexed international publishers.” He said he graduated from a master’s program at the National University of Singapore. He also added that this seminar is one of the activities that is expected to support increased publications for Undiksha as a whole.
The Dean of FTK, Dr. I Gede Sudirtha, S.Pd, M.Pd. who represented the Chancellor of Undiksha to open this event. “This activity is a forum for practitioners and academics to convey ideas regarding the development of education, technology, and vocational fields in order to welcome Industrial Revolution 4.0 towards Society 5.0,” he said when met on the sidelines of the conference.
Through this activity, it is hoped that a collaborative program can be established with new institutions and make it a step for lecturers to increase research and publication numbers. He emphasized that the institution would really support the breakthrough. “Apart from that, we also motivate lecturers to take part in research forums and even joint research with foreign universities, such as the joint research collaboration that has been carried out with La Rochelle University, France,” he concluded.
Through this conference, it is also hoped that a harmonious situation can be created between education, technology, and vocation with industrial revolution 4.0 towards society 5.0 which will certainly have a significant impact on future developments in science and technology. (hms)
